To live a healthy lifestyle, one might be into exercising or workout along with a strict diet that drives to follow a proper daily regime.
CALORIE BURNING is the one key thing that you will find familiar while keeping a healthy and fit life. The most easy and efficient way to achieve it is by WALKING.
Most of you are spending half of your life working in front of your laptops. It’s rare to get enough hours to focus on your diet and fitness.
Prolonged stagnancy automatically affects your mental and physical well being resulting in lesser productivity.
Experts suggest that we should burn more calories than we usually consume in a day.
A good brisk walk can have many health benefits:
- Control high blood pressure
- Lowers cholesterol level
- Increases metabolic rate
- Improves mental health
- Stronger bones and muscles
- Helps in reducing weight tussles
HOW TO CALCULATE THE NUMBER OF CALORIES BURNED?
Walking pace and distance are the two main significant factors on which the calculation of an individual’s calories burned depends.
There are many resources condemning the calculation of the exact calories you burn while exercising, some insignificant factors that also affect the calorie statistics, like your age, height, and weight.
For example, if you have more height then you tend to spend less energy while walking a mile.
That’s why there is a possibility that you can burn more or less calories than shown in calorie calculators.
But if we compare it as in standard rules, a person who weighs 80 Kg can burn 100 calories walking a mile while a person weighing 55 Kg can burn only 65 calories walking the same distance.
You can refer to the values given here for a detailed view of calories burned while walking an hour.
- Stroll – 3.5 Cal/min
- A brisk walk, 4.0 mph, (around 6.5 km/h) level, firm surface, rapid pace – 5.0 Cal/min
- Walk(moderate pace), 3.5 mph, (5.6 km/h) uphill – 6.0 Cal/min
- Walk, 5.0 mph (8 km/h) – 8.0 Cal/min
We always wonder, how many calories we are burning by walking daily!
Here is the simple formula to follow so that you can calculate your calories burned while walking manually.
Calories burned per minute = (0.035 x body weight in kg) + ((Velocity in m/s²) / Height in m)) x (0.029) x (body weight in kg)
For references, let’s say a person has a height of 1.82 m, weighing 85 kg, and can walk 1.5 meters per second.
Putting the numeric values in the formula, we get
Calories burned per minute = (0.035 x 85) + ((1.5 x 1.5)/1.82)) x (0.029) x (85) = 6.021
This means that a person of 6ft height and 85Kg weight walking on a level surface with this speed can burn 6.02 calories per minute.
